Monarch reports record July

Monarch is celebrating a record month after carrying almost 460,000 passengers on scheduled flights in July 2008, the highest number of passengers carried in any one month. Then airline did not detail the growth this represented on last year, nor comment on a report that it will struggle financially this winter, and could even collapse.
The airline said in a statement that the July passenger increase has been aided by the recent launch of new routes from Gatwick and Manchester to Larnaca (Cyprus) and from Gatwick to Menorca. Overall, for both scheduled and charter services, Monarch carried a total of 826,815 passengers during July 2008.
