An easyJet flight attendant hailed a hero for putting out a mid-air fire has been arrested by the police investigating the blaze, the Sun reports. Steven Pullen, 20, was last night on police bail after being quizzed over a lit toilet roll in loo on a plane flying to Gatwick from Cyprus.
The newspaper quotes a source at the budget airline - which has suspended the steward - saying: ‘This was a really serious incident. We’re not looking at this as an attempt at sabotage. It appears to be more a cry for attention.’
Pullen was held by Gatwick-based cops after the drama caused the plane to be grounded in Geneva, Switzerland. The 150 passengers had to return to England overland and by ferry, the newspaper reports.
