Virgin upgrade economy dining
03.11.11
A ‘welcome cocktail’ plus a separate dessert and hot drinks service are being offered to economy passengers on board Virgin Atlantic flights. Part of a planned £100m investment that the airline says will improve operations on the ground and in the air, the new in-flight dining experience will feel ‘much like a restaurant service.’
The airline’s chief operating officer, Steve Griffiths said that a new dining offer in economy was overdue: ‘It has been many years since we last refreshed our economy meal service. We have listened to feedback from our passengers and cabin crew and have separated dining into courses – much more like a restaurant service on the ground.’
Other subtle changes to the in-flight service include new crockery and cutlery, and a smaller meal tray designed to give passengers more elbow room. Ice creams will also be served by cabin crew from usherette trays, as featured in Virgin’s latest ad.
