Norwich flight diverted to Gatwick

A Norwich Airport bound flight from Turkey was diverted to Gatwick Airport, making passengers more than seven hours late home, the Evening News reports. The Thomas Cook flight from Dalaman was diverted on Friday evening after the aircraft's crew were alerted to an ‘indication of a technical fault’.
Passengers waited for more than hour in the Boeing 757 at Gatwick while engineers inspected the aircraft, with the hope of getting it airborne again to continue on to Norwich. However, they eventually disembarked and, after having a meal, were taken by coach back to Norwich, arriving home over seven hours behind schedule.
A spokesperson at Thomas Cook Airlines said: ‘We'd like to apologise to our passengers for the inconvenience caused on our Dalaman to Norwich flight on June 26. The aircraft was routed to Gatwick Airport and landed safely. To ensure our passengers could return home as soon as possible, they were then coached back to Norwich.’
