Fuel surcharges and the credit crunch haven't put people off flying from Exeter Airport, with passenger numbers increasing by 3% in May. More than 2,500 extra passengers travelled in the month compared to the same month last year, up from 95,975 to 98,495.
The news comes as Exeter Airport is due to publish its masterplan, setting out how the airport will develop over the next 12 years. Owners Regional and City Airports have already stated they want to increase passenger numbers from the current level of around one million a year to 3.5 million by 2030.
Jamie Christon, deputy managing director for Exeter Airport, said: ‘It's good to see there's an increase in traffic and demand to travel to and from Exeter.'
