The Exeter Airport Draft Master Plan display, showing the development plans until 2030, closed on Friday. It had been at Exmouth Pavilion for a fortnight as part of a twelve-week consultation period. The airport's customers, shareholders, stakeholders, employees and local residents are being asked to comment on the development ideas and these will be considered for the final Master Plan, which will be presented to the Department for Transport later this year.
The document details the airport's intention to develop a high standard of terminal facilities on the current 'south' site during a period of phased growth. The expansion proposals are to address the region's demand for air travel and support the tourism industry. The managed development of the airport is aiming to ensure minimum environmental impact and there is a commitment by the airport to have carbon neutral ground operations by 2015.
