Exeter Airport handled 114,600 passengers in August, making it the busiest month in the airport's 70-year history. The hub saw a year-on-year passenger increase of 1%, while traffic on charter holiday routes rose by 3%.
Jamie Christon, deputy managing director of Exeter Airport, said he was ‘absolutely delighted’ with the figures achieved despite difficulties in the economy and decreasing traffic at other gateways. He revealed that hotspots in the Canary Islands and the Balearics saw the most passengers.
