Edinburgh Airport ground crew prang Saudi prince’s jet
20.03.10
Ground staff crashed an airport vehicle into a Saudi prince's jumbo jet after he touched down at Edinburgh Airport, the Daily Record reports. The workers are reported to have left a 30ft dent near the nose of the Boeing 747 owned by a nephew of King Abdullah.
The prang occurred after multi-billionaire Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud - the 19th-richest person in the world - jetted in on a private business trip. It is reported that the jet was hit by a vehicle that was being used to remove bins from the hold on Monday.
Airport owners BAA described it as a ‘minor scrape’, but an 'airport insider' told the newspaper: ‘You can tell just by looking at it that there was a significant impact. It didn't pierce the skin of the plane but it put a large dent in it. It will cost thousands to repair.’
