Police on bikes at Edinburgh Airport
03.06.11
Police based at Edinburgh Airport have started patrolling it on bikes, enabling them to patrol the airport campus more ‘effectively and efficiently’. Kevin Brown, the airport's managing director, said: ‘We're delighted at this new initiative. I think our passengers will respond positively. Getting the officers out of their cars promotes faster response and will make for easier face to face interaction.’
Members of Lothian and Borders police have been trained how to use the three bikes that the force has based at the airport. It is hoped that officers on the bikes will be more visible to people using the hub, assisting and reassuring them.
