East Midlands Airport passengers warned of weekend traffic

Passengers using East Midlands Airport this weekend (June 11 - 13) are being urged to allow plenty of extra time, as thousands of people travel to neighbouring Donington Park for the Download Music Festival. Major roads and motorways near the airport are likely to be busy from tomorrow (June 9) when campsites for the event open, until Monday (June 14) when they close.
In order to aid traffic flow from the event, road restrictions will be in place on Sunday evening (22.30 - 02.00) and Monday (8.00 - 14.00). During these periods a one-way traffic system will be in place from Donington Park (Paddock Entrance) along Melbourne Lane to the A453 and southbound to Moor Lane (A42) junction; in addition there will be no right turn out of the main airport exit. Signed diversion routes will be in operation on these dates.
