East Midlands Airport welcomes F1 news

East Midlands Airport is gearing up to become one of the busiest in the country every July for the next 10 years, after it was announced on Friday that Donington Park - which is right next to the airport - will host the British Grand Prix for 10 years from 2010. The airport says it is ready to welcome the celebrities and F1 fans.
A spokeswoman said: ‘This is great news for the airport and great news for the region. At the moment, it is hard for us to say exactly how many people will use the airport each year as a result of this. However, clearly there will be an increase in passenger numbers because of the close proximity we have to Donington Park. We look forward to working with Donington Park because this will be mutually beneficial for both of us.’
The airport said it was already equipped to deal with celebrity clients – it has an executive lounge and private jet operators are on site, ready to take the high-flying clients from around the world.
