Ryanair announce holiday route from Derry Airport
18.01.09
Ryanair has announced its first international flight from Derry Airport, with flights for Alicante to take off in March. The twice-weekly direct flights from the airport to Spain brings to six the number of routes offered by Ryanair from the airport.
A spokesman for the budget airline said the new route will increase its traffic to and from the airport significantly, and will help sustain 480 local jobs, while also delivering around £45m in tourism revenues for the area. This last claim assumes people from the Spanish coast will use the route to visit Northern Ireland.
