Passengers up 6.7% at Bristol Airport
19.07.08
Bristol Airport overall passenger traffic for June 6.7% higher than 2007 as a result of additional low cost capacity. Domestic traffic was 7.0% lower than last year, due to reductions in load factors, but international traffic increased 24.3%, due to the opening of the new Ryanair base in November 2007, new easyJet routes and the introduction of flights by Lufthansa in March. Charter traffic was 13.5% lower due to continued consolidation - and capacity reduction - in the industry.
In the 12 months to the end of June passengers were up 8.6% on a year earlier to 5.675m. Domestic traffic was 8.3% lower at 1.33m whilst charter traffic was down 1.3% to 1.35m. International traffic was up 20.6% to 2.99m, and now accounts for 53% of the airports passengers.
