Bristol Airport transport links ‘worst in UK’
06.02.10
The quality of public transport links from Bristol Airport is being criticised in a new report. Campaign group Railfuture carried out research at airports across the UK to assess their rail, bus and coach links and the information that is provided to passengers about transport options.
The report says there is a huge variation in the quality of public transport links to UK airports, and Bristol Airport is amongst the worst, scoring 8 out of a possible 30 points in the survey leaving it behind Gatwick, Newcastle and even smaller airports such as Southend.
However, managers at Bristol Airport hit out at the findings, saying they only scored badly because they do not have a train link. Bosses say a rail link to Bristol City Centre is not a realistic option and instead they are focusing on increasing the frequency of their coach service which runs every 15 minutes from the airport into the city, making several stops on the way.
