Flybe use larger planes during Lufthansa strike
29.07.08
Regional budget airline Flybe will be stepping up capacity on flights to Germany from the UK to curb the impact of a strike by Lufthansa staff that started yesterday and has already seen over 100 flights cancelled.
The indefinite strike by the Lufthansa Ground and Cabin Crew over a pay dispute began yesterday. Flybe will use larger aircraft on routes between Germany and UK airports including Birmingham, Southampton and Manchester.
Mike Rutter, the airline's chief commercial officer, said: ‘Flybe is stepping in with extra capacity to make sure travellers don't get caught up in the Lufthansa strike. With our great value fares and user-friendly timetable between the UK and Germany, no-one need miss out on that important trip, whether it's business or leisure.’
