Passengers terrified by Birmingham Airport ‘hard landing’
17.09.10
Almost 200 terrified passengers screamed in terror when a nightmare landing at Birmingham Airport saw the plane bounce 20 feet into the air four times, the Birmingham Mail reports. Monarch flight ZB971, returning from Malaga on Tuesday afternoon, smashed into the runway each time with a big crash, and then bounced back up, an ex-RAF man who was on the flight told the newspaper.
Grandfather-of-eight Tommy Price said the plane bounced a total of four times before screeching brakes brought it to a halt. But Monarch sought to play down the incident, saying the flight had ‘bounced slightly’ after being hit by cross winds. However, it admitted the landing was so heavy that engineers checked the plane over for damage afterwards.
