Air India axe Birmingham flights

Air India is to axe its services from Birmingham Airport, transferring its flights to Heathrow. The airline is to pull the plug on its Amritsar-Birmingham-Toronto service in late October, when it launches its winter schedule.
Around 100,000 passengers have flown on the route since the start of the year. Officials at Birmingham Airport are optimistic that the airline, which launched the route in May 2005, will resume operations on the hugely important route next spring.
