Big drug bust at Birmingham Airport

A man has been appeared in court on charges of trying to smuggle three kilos of cocaine into the UK through Birmingham airport. Gavin Thorburn, aged 32, from Bradwell Village near Milton Keynes, was arrested this week by officers from the UK Border Agency who seized the drugs from his luggage.
Mr Thorburn had flown in from Nairobi via Dubai on Monday and following the detection the case was passed to HM Revenue and Customs. The cocaine has a street value of over £350,000. He was remanded in custody until July 15 to reappear at Solihull Magistrates Court.
