Birmingham hotel offers special air crew rooms
07.07.08
The Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre hotel, which is currently undergoing a £16m refurbishment programme, is to cater for aircrews on stopovers in the city by setting aside 30 bedrooms that have improved noise insulation and black out curtains, abtn reports.
The four star hotel is around 15 miles from Birmingham Airport, but is already popular with aircrews. It will now add bedrooms dedicated to airline staff, that will be accessible to airline and hotel staff only, giving them the opportunity to rest at any time of the day or night with the assurance that their sleep will not be disturbed.
The rooms will offer additional storage space to accommodate pilots’ cases and luggage, with high speed internet access, while a special menu will be available to flight crews in the restaurant and can also use the Club lounge.
A spokesman for the hotel told abtn: ‘As Birmingham Airport expands and with the proposed runway extension expecting to attract more long-haul flights, the need for pilots and flight attendants to rest in the city will increase.'
