Concerns raised over Belfast City Airport security
31.12.10
Concerns have been raised about security at Belfast City Airport after a passenger boarded a flight to London without once being asked for ID, the Belfast Telegraph reports. The man told the newspaper he was surprised to pass through the airport’s security points and departure gate without being asked to provide any identification.
The passenger was flying to Heathrow with airline bmi, who told the newspaper that ‘airlines are not obliged to check passenger identification with domestic flights’, although it is very unusual for this not to happen. An East Belfast MLA has called for tighter security at the airport following the incident.
