bmibaby launch Belfast – Stansted flights
29.03.11
The first flights by bmibaby between Belfast City Airport and Stansted took off yesterday. The budget airline will operate up to 16 flights a week on the route, with up to 3 flights a day.
bmibaby announced the new service in December, shortly after budget rival Ryanair pulled out of the airport in a row over a runway extension. The airline said the new route will provide business customers from Northern Ireland with increased access to the City of London and Canary Wharf, as well as high-tech industries around Cambridge and direct access to the east of England.
Julian Carr, managing director of bmibaby, welcomed the first flight. He said: We are the only low-cost airline to operate this route, and offer convenient flight times and a high-frequency service to Stansted Airport.'
