Aer Lingus 42% of Belfast – Heathrow route
18.09.08
Aer Lingus says it is pleased at its 42% share on the Belfast to Heathrow route. Seven months after it began flying between the two cities, the airline says it is well on its way to taking half the market share from bmi.
Aer Lingus corporate affairs director, Enda Corneille, says the figures are excellent and it is well on schedule to achieving 700,000 bookings before its first anniversary on the route. However, its share would be considerably less than 50% of the London – Belfast route, with Ryanair operating flights from Belfast City to Stansted, easyJet from Belfast international to Luton, Gatwick and Stansted, and Flybe from Belfast City to Gatwick.
