Human trafficking campaign at Belfast City Airport
15.10.10
A poster campaign against human trafficking has been launched by Justice Minister David Ford at Belfast City Airport. The 'Visitor or Victim' initiative has seen posters placed at airports to make potential victims aware of the dangers of trafficking.
Posters will be displayed at points of entry to Northern Ireland including airports, and also at health centres. They will be written in nine languages - English, Mandarin, French, Romanian, Lithuanian, Russian, Thai, Czech and Albanian. The message on the posters will ask visitors if they have been tricked or deceived into coming to the country, urging them to contact Crimestoppers.
The poster campaign has been organised by the Justice Department in cooperation with the Serious Organised Crime Agency and coincides with UK Anti-Slavery Day next Monday, on the same day as EU Anti-Trafficking Day. Minister Ford said he wants trafficking victims to know there is help available.
