A transatlantic flight from Belfast International Airport to the US had to be diverted after an elderly passenger became ill, Continental Airlines said. Two other passengers who became disruptive were also removed by the Icelandic police.
Flight CO95 to New York's Newark Liberty International had to make an unscheduled stop at Keflavik, the main airport on Iceland. An elderly woman developed a low pulse and two doctors who were on the flight gave her oxygen until the 757 landed. On arrival the elderly woman was taken to hospital with her husband.
Police in Iceland were called to remove two disruptive passengers. It is not known if the two other passengers were arrested, however the spokesman said that they had been detained by Icelandic police. They were both left behind when the flight left Keflavik Airport.
