Two Flybe flights hit by emergencies
09.04.11
Two Flybe planes were forced turn back to the airport they had just taken off from minutes after take-off because of a technical fault with an indicator light yesterday. Both flights were aborted as a precautionary measure.
Emergency services were put on standby when a Flybe plane leaving the Belfast City Airport bound for Leeds Bradford declared an emergency and returned to the Belfast hub. There were similar scenes in the Isle of Man when a Flybe flight heading for Manchester made a similar swift return. They were not required at either airport as both planes landed safely without incident.
In a statement the airline said: ‘The planes have been fully inspected by Flybe's engineers and have returned to service. Flybe regrets any inconvenience caused to passengers because of the delay but the safety of its passengers and crew are the airline's number one priority’.
