Belfast Airport worker to fight security pass removal
03.12.11
An worker at Belfast International Airport has won High Court permission to challenge the withdrawal of her security pass for breaching a restricted zone to buy a carton of milk, the Belfast Telegraph reports.
Patricia O'Hara and two female colleagues are reported to have compromised a critical area at the airport. The court heard that the three women ‘conspired’ to break an airlock system at a restricted area, rather than passing through security. Two of them are said to have held doors open at either side for their colleague to pass through.
Security passes the three are required to have to work at the airport were withdrawn after the incident in January. Ms O'Hara, of Co Antrim and with 11 years' service with handling agent Menzies Aviation, has not worked at the airport since and is seeking to judicially review its refusal to reissue her pass. Mr Justice Treacy granted leave to apply for a judicial review.
