Flybe wants Aberdeen - Gatwick route
28.11.07
Flybe, Europe's largest regional low cost airline, has said it wants to take over flights between Aberdeen Airport and Gatwick, the BBC reports. The airline told BBC Scotland that Gatwick was an important destination.
Flybe wants to fill the gap left by British Airways, which announced it is pulling out of the route from the end of March. The airline - which announced yesterday that it is to begin services from Aberdeen to Southampton and Jersey next spring - has opened negotiations with BAA. It will also increase its service to Exeter to a daily one.
Ironically, when Flybe took over BA's regional flights arm BA Connect in March, BA chose to take over its flights terminating at Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airports. Had it left the route in BA Connect, Flybe would already be operating it.
