An investigation has been launched after a possible near miss between a military fighter and a passenger plane near Aberdeen Airport. An Aircraft Proximity report - known as an airprox - is now being considered by the UK Airprox Board.
The incident happened on September 11 at about 14:20, 25 miles west of the airport. It involved an Eastern Airways Jetstream 41 - which can carry up to 29 passengers - coming from Stornoway and an RAF Tornado F3 jet.
The report said: 'The JS41 was heading to Aberdeen Airport and was receiving an air traffic service from the Scottish Area Control Centre. The incident took place at approximately 9,500 feet.'
