New £15m hotel planned for Aberdeen Airport
24.11.07
A new flagship luxury hotel has been unveiled for Aberdeen Airport. The £15 million hotel will be built on Argyll Road, within walking distance of the airport's main passenger terminal.
The 180-bedroom hotel will be the first Courtyard by Marriott in Scotland. It is to feature a massive conference room for corporate events and social functions as well as a terraced outdoor restaurant. There will also be an 'oil crew lounge' where offshore workers can await transfer.
Ed Fuller, president and managing director of International Lodging at Marriott, said he was thrilled to be investing in Aberdeen. He said: 'We believe this product has terrific potential in the city. While it is not our normal approach, we are investing in and developing this particular hotel ourselves.'
Plans have already been submitted for two other hotels forming a £20 million development at the airport. The hotels would provide almost 300 rooms and 1,000 long-stay car parking spaces.
