Royal Mail driver arrested over drink driving at Aberdeen Airport

An inquiry has been launched after a Royal Mail driver was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol near Aberdeen Airport runway, the Evening Express reports. The man was breathalysed by police on the airfield before being arrested, but after a second breath test at Grampian Police’s Aberdeen Queen Street headquarters was negative he was released without charge.
The incident happened at about 07:00 on Tuesday after staff, concerned about the driver's fitness for duty, alerted police. He was was on his way to collect mail from an Aberdeen flight when he was stopped by airport staff and then breath-tested by police. Royal Mail in Aberdeen confirmed an inquiry was under way and that the driver has not been suspended. He was reported to have returned to work yesterday.
