Couple win Ryanair compensation battle

A north-east couple have won a £750 compensation battle against budget airline Ryanair – 50 times more than what they were originally offered, the Press & Journal reports.
Maurice and Ita O'Carroll were passengers on a Ryanair flight to Dublin from Aberdeen Airport last year when their two pieces of luggage became delayed. The bags showed up two days after they had landed and on their return to their home in Aberdeen the couple contacted the airline requesting compensation. They were offered £7.50 each in cash or £15 each in travel vouchers.
But the couple declined the offer and took legal action, suing the firm for £750. A proof hearing called at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on March 31 where the couple won their claim of £750 plus £75 in expenses. Ryanair lodged an appeal against the decision.
Mr O’Carroll told the newspaper that the appeal has been thrown out by the court. The airline said it could not confirm this as it had not received written confirmation.
