Flybe to take over Aberdeen Airport - Gatwick route
15.01.08
Flybe announced today that it is to take over the Aberdeen Airport - Gatwick service from the end of March, after BA axes its flights on the route. The regional airline will operate 3 flights a day on the route, with the announcement coming the day after Flybe announced that it had signed a franchise agreement with Scottish airline Loganair.
A spokesman for Flybe said that it has been in talks with Aberdeen Airport since BA announced it was axing the service last year, and is introducing a business-friendly schedule that will be of huge benefit to the economy of Aberdeen.
The airline will begin operating the three times a day service from March 30 with fares starting at just £24.99 one way including taxes and charges. Flights can be booked from today at www.flybe.com.
Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer, Flybe: 'The Gatwick to Aberdeen service is of great strategic importance to Aberdeen and we're delighted to be able to fill the gap and take over this abandoned route from BA.'
