Air Southwest launch Aberdeen – Plymouth / Newquay flights
11.03.11
Air Southwest has launched a new weekday link from Aberdeen to Devon and Cornwall. The service operates twice a day from Plymouth in Devon and Newquay in Cornwall to Aberdeen.
Although aimed chiefly at business travellers, the new service puts one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations in easy reach of travellers from Aberdeen. Devon and Cornwall are renowned for their stunning scenery, breathtaking beaches and world-class attractions including the Eden Project and Tate St Ives.
Air Southwest commercial director Mike Coombes said: ‘We expect this new link to be especially popular with business travellers in the marine and energy sectors who often go from one end of the country to another and need the speed and convenience of air travel, rather than spending more than 10 hours on the train. But we also hope it will appeal to anyone considering a short break in Devon and Cornwall, which are great places to visit any time of year.’
Carol Benzie, the Head of Commercial Business at Aberdeen Airport welcomed the announcement. She said: ‘It is always exciting to have new destinations to offer passengers from the North-east. I am confident that this route will prove successful with business passengers and with leisure passengers alike. We are all pleased to welcome Air Southwest to Aberdeen Airport and we wish them all the best with the route’.
