Six in court over 'disturbance' on Aberdeen Airport flight
06.11.07
Six oil workers have appeared in court following alleged disturbances on a flight to Aberdeen Airport. The men were stopped at the airport on Sunday evening after their private charter flight landed following reports of several disturbances on a plane.
The Boeing 737 was chartered from Astraeus by oil company Petrolia Drilling and had flown 55 workers back from Las Palmas in Spain, where they are reported to have been working on a rig. Members of the plane's crew alerted the authorities alleging that some of the passengers had been poorly behaved and were drinking their own alcohol.
It is reported that, at one point, the captain of the flight was preparing to divert to Manchester Airport over some of the passengers' behaviour. The flight eventually landed at Aberdeen at 19:05 where it was met by police.
Ryan Massie, 24, Hugh MacLeod, 23, Gary Moar, 40, Ryan Gunn, 34, Craig Cameron, 33, and Andrew Morrisey, 29, denied charges of being drunk on board an aircraft and failing to obey pilot orders. All six were released from Aberdeen Sherriff Court following the hearing, and will face trial in February.
